In the last week, both Miami-Dade and Broward counties ordered restrictions on nonessential business. The City recognizes the COVID-19 public health emergency is not limited to one county or municipality.

The City has issued this emergency order to save lives and prevent the long-term devastating impacts on our residents, businesses and visitors.

Do your part. Slow the spread. Stay home.

Holistic Wellness -A Word from Our Formulators

Posted on March 23, 2020 at 5:50 PM Comments comments ()

To continue to serve you during these times, we would like you to know we won't be shutting down our lab as the products we sell which now includes liquid hand and bath soaps are qualified as life sustaining. As far as we know, distributors such as yourself, fall into this category as well.

We have adopted stringent disinfecting procedures for all arriving boxes, contents of every box, product handling and filling which now includes disinfecting all filled bottles and jars, packing materials and boxes before products are shipped.

According to the New England Journal of Medicine COVID19's stability is as follows:

3 HOURS IN AIR

4 HOURS ON COPPER SURFACES

24 HOURS ON CARDBOARD

2-3 DAYS ON PLASTIC AND STAINLESS STEEL.

With that in mind, since we don't know if the virus has been exposed to boxes once they leave our lab, we strongly encourage you to handle the boxes with gloves, wear a mask and allow the boxes to remain unopened for a period of a minimum of 4 days to be safe. Basically the same attitude and precautions as the health professionals are stating which is to assume you and everyone else has the virus and protect yourself and others accordingly. We also strongly encourage to pass this info along to your clients.

Stay well and good luck through these trying times.

COV19 SALON PROTOCOL

Posted on March 23, 2020 at 5:30 PM Comments comments ()

Corona virus Temporarily client protocol

In efforts to continue open our doors as long this virus outbreak allow it , we are adapting a few steps to reduce the exposure .

“social distancing.”

The idea here is that now that this virus is out in the community and we have no medical way to prevent its spread, it’s up to us to keep far enough away from other people that we decrease the odds that we’ll get sick. And remember, because many people can be contagious despite having no or mild symptoms, “social distancing” doesn’t just mean avoiding people who cough—it means staying a safe distance away from other people.

CDC recommended :6 feet distant

As a temporarily measures :

Please consider rescheduling if:

-feel sick with in 2 weeks

-traveled yourself or any relative had traveled within 2 weeks .

-We love kids but please leave them home .

- Seriously consider it if you have any pre existing conditions .

WHAT TO EXPECT

-please bring hand sanitizer , we are doing our best but it’s very hard to get it ,our supply it’s getting low .

- bring older clothes just in case our disposable capes are generic fit .

-Expect a call from us

- Before arriving to your appointment Call or text , we will be preparing the space to have your service .

-please wait in your car till we respond we are ready to star service .

-as soon you coming please wash your hands .

- highly suggest while you are processing , politely to wait in your car to avoid gathering in a closed space .We will try to reduce crow as posible.

-let us know any other suggestions to be consider

Thanks

ORGANIC COLOR SYSTEM PERM

Posted on August 18, 2014 at 6:10 PM Comments comments ()

Organic Curl Systems is a revolutionary product, which is free from ammonia and thioglycolates. Enriched with plant amino acids, it works around the natural pH level of the hair, which is left undamaged by the process. The key trend in today’s perms is soft curls, full of volume and movement which is exactly what Organic Curl Systems accomplishes. It is a revolutionary perming, relaxing, and straightening product which contains Cysteamin HCL, an ingredient far gentler than chemical based perms. The neutraliser system contains plant amino acids, which soothe and condition the scalp. The hair is left with a natural feel and shine.

Organic Curl Systems works between pH 4.5 and 6.5, depending on how much activator is added and leaves the hair at its natural pH level, so it is undamaged by the perming process. Organic Curl Systems is suitable for all hair types, even damaged hair.

Rosacea- face & scalp

Posted on May 4, 2014 at 11:00 PM Comments comments ()

Rosacea is a common, non-contagious inflammatory skin condition which is found on the face and appears as red, flushed skin. It kind of looks like you're blushing... all the time. It is often mistaken for Eczema, Acne or a skin allergy. The severity of the condition differs from person to person. Rosacea is quite a complex condition which is why it can be broken down into 4 subtypes (with long scientific names)Subtypes of Rosacea

1.Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea - Persistent redness and visible blood vessels

2.Papulopustular Rosacea - Same as above but with tiny acne-like bumps

3.Phymatous Rosacea - Same as above but with thickened skin causing an enlargement of the nose

4.Ocular Rosacea - Same as above with eye irritations such as dry eye, tearing and burning

So what causes Rosacea?

No set cause for Rosacea has been found. It is believed by many dermatologists and researchers that there are various triggers that may prompt Rosacea to develop or, in some cases, worsen. These triggers differ among Rosacea sufferers. We recommend to our customers to try and identify what is triggering their Rosacea as this will make it easier to determine how to best treat it. It is also worth noting that what may work for one person may not work for another. Resting or altering a treatment is also advised as some sufferers find their symptoms may build up a resistance to a particular treatment. According to dermatologists and researchers, the 5 key triggers of Rosacea are:

1.Demodex Mites

2.Blood vessel abnormalities

3.Helicobacter Pylori

4.Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

5.Leaky Gut Syndrome

1. Demodectic Rosacea

Demodex Mites

Demodex Mites are microscopic creatures that inhabit the pores of the skin. You can't see them with the naked eye and they live harmlessly on most people. Yes, this made us cringe too! It has been found that Rosacea sufferers have a higher density of these mites on their skin than those without Rosacea, as seen in the study The Demodex Mite Population in Rosacea. It is believed this higher density of mites may lead to or worsen the condition. On the other hand, some people believe it isn't the actual number of mites, but rather the bacteria released when they die that causes Rosacea. Yucky, yes we know but all the more reason to get rid of them, right?! The study Mite-related bacterial antigens stimulate inflammatory cells in Rosacea found this bacteria has "the potential to stimulate an inflammatory response in patients with papulopustular Rosacea." Another interesting point to note is that Rosacea tends to flare up during heat and humidity, conditions in which these mites thrive.

Treatments

In order to help treat Demodectic Rosacea, one must manage the Mite population on the skin and also soothe the inflammation caused. There are a number of ways to do this:

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Leaf

Some studies such as this one have found that tea tree oil may help kill off Demodex Mites. The problem though is that Tea Tree Oil is required to be at least 50% concentration. This can be irritating on the skin and may potentially burn the skin.

Anti-Demodex Medication

Medication is often prescribed to Rosacea sufferers which helps stop the mites from spreading and moving around the skin. The anti-parasitic medication Invermectin is one example that is commonly used to treat worms in dogs and other animal parasites. While it is often effective, there are some side effects such as possible neurotoxity which damages the nervous tissue. Additionally, this medication is not suitable to use during pregnancy, breast feeding or for children under 5 (as advised by your doctor).

Olive Leaf

Olive Leaf

Olive Leaf

Olive leaf extract is taken in capsule form and acts in the same way that antibiotics do. It is very strong which means dosages must not be tampered with. There isn't a lot of research into this treatment unfortunately.

Fish Oil and Vitamin E

The Omega-3 fatty acids found in Fish Oil have strong anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe the inflammation caused by Demodectic Rosacea. Vitamin E is effective in repairing damaged skin and helps reduce the redness caused by this condition.

Whilst both of these may help soothe the symptoms of Demodectic Rosacea, neither of them do anything about the mite population on the skin which causes the condition to flare up in the first place.

MooGoo Demodex Rosacea Powder

We at MooGoo have spent a long time trying to develop something natural to help treat Demodectic Rosacea. We have formulated a special powder and licensed it as a medical device to do just this. Basically, this powder works to create an environment on the skin that irritates the mites and absorbs excess sebum which they need to survive. Our customers who have given it a try have had excellent results so far. :) You can read more about this product here.

2. Blood Vessel Abnormalities

Abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face play a role in the development of Rosacea as it causes persistent redness and enlarged blood vessels. What causes the blood vessels to inflame and swell is unknown.

It has been shown in the past that a relationship exists between gut problems and skin conditions, such as Rosacea. The following 3 Rosacea triggers are all related to a gut condition.

3. Helicobacter Pylori

Artistic Impression of Helicobacter Pylori

Artistic Impression of Helicobacter Pylori

Helicobacter Pylori (Hp) is a common bacterial infection that affects the lining of the stomach and causes inflammation and stomach ulcers. It affects over 30% of the world's population, according to the Centre for Digestive Diseases. Hp may also lead to an increase of Nitrous Oxide (NO) in the blood and tissue which, along with the inflammatory symptoms, is believed to cause a range of other conditions, including Rosacea. The bacteria may also prompt a protein known as bradykinnin to develop which may trigger the expansion of blood vessels (a common characteristic of Rosacea). The study The Link between Helicobacter Pylori Infection and Rosacea found, "Rosacea could be considered as one of the extragastric symptoms of Hp infection."

Treatments

The first step to treat Rosacea caused by Hp bacteria is to eliminate the bacteria itself and soothe the associated inflammation. This can be done using:

Oral Antibiotics

Antibiotics are commonly prescribed for Hp infections. However, if antibiotics are taken too much, the bacteria may become resistant to their effects which force you to take higher or stronger dosages.

Natural Supplements

A number of natural supplements have been found to kill off Hp bacteria and soothe the inflammation. These include (but are not limited to):

1. Monolaurin

Monolaurin is derived from coconut oil and, interestingly, is also found in human breast milk. It has strong anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe the symptoms of Hp. It is taken in capsule form and a number of studies have found it is effective in killing off the bacteria. Some examples include:

Bacterial effects of fatty acids and momoglycerides

Minimum Inhibitory concentrations of herbal essential oils and Monolaurin of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria

Monolaurin is derived from Coconut Oil

Monolaurin is derived from Coconut Oil

2. Mastic Gum

Mastic Gum is derived from the mastic tree and acts as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal supplement that has been found by some studies to kill off Hp bacteria such as:

The effect of mastic gum on Helicobacter Pylori: A randomized pilot study

Bacterial Activity of Pistacia lentiscus Mastic Gum against Helicobacter Pylori

3. L Glutamine

L Glutamine is an amino acid that's found in high levels throughout the body. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and is essential for the proper fucntion of the immune system. It is often taken as a supplement to heal any damage and inflammation caused by Hp. This article goes into this a bit deeper and one study that examines the efectiveness of the amino acid in soothing inflammation is Why is L-Glutamine important to cells of the immune system in health, post injury, surgery and infection?

THE TRUTH ABOUT KERATIN TREATMENTS BY QOD

Posted on June 10, 2010 at 10:35 PM Comments comments ()

THE WINNER TO THE HONESTY !

Notes on Formaldehyde

In the U.S. market there is a great deal of confusion – and far too much false advertising - regarding Brazilian Keratin products and formaldehyde. Any professional stylist considering offering a Brazilian Keratin treatment will take the time and effort to get to the truth about these formulas, their potency and their effectiveness.

The Myth of “Formaldehyde Free”

There are a number of keratin formulas on the market claiming to be “formaldehyde free.” Technically, this may be correct. Many of these “formaldehyde free” products, however, are likely to contain other “aldehydes,” urea, or similar mixes which share the potent characteristics of formaldehyde. Often these compounds convert into a form of raw, unrefined formaldehyde when heated.

Even though QOD Brazilian Keratin formulas do not contain industrially manufactured raw formaldehyde, we choose not to advertise them as “formaldehyde free.” We find this to be a disingenuous marketing gimmick. More importantly, it is potentially harmful. If stylists are comforted with a false sense of confidence, believing that a product is “formaldehyde free,” they may not follow the same stringent safety protocols they would with other powerful salon products. That would be a mistake.

The bottom line is this:

Any formulation that produces a significant volume-reduction in the hair lasting several weeks is a potent salon product. It should always be treated with healthy respect, and handled in compliance with salon safety protocols by licensed hair professionals only.

There are no exceptions to this, and there are no short cuts to achieving the remarkable, long-lasting effects of a Brazilian Keratin treatment. If a product is truly without formaldehyde or any derivatives, its effects will most likely last only until the next washing. A beautiful flat-iron and blow-out with some nice keratin-based conditioner might last for several days and make a client happy - but this service is not a Brazilian Keratin treatment.

What is Different About QOD Brazilian Keratin?

At QOD COSMETIC, our approach is different. We have always focused on the technology rather than marketing hype, steadily reducing the levels of potent chemicals in our formulas while maintaining – and improving – their long-lasting conditioning and volume reduction effects.

We also respect our clientele, communicating with them frankly and directly about what is involved.

In the U.S. field of relative new-comers to the market, QOD COSMETIC USA stands apart. We have led the world in Brazilian Keratin products for over a decade, and are unique in our expertise. We have developed a cutting edge, patented technique that uses a proprietary compound of actively charged elements to work with the keratin for maximum penetration and effect. With QOD’s process, the ratio of potentially harmful chemicals in our keratin formulas goes way down. This is particularly true in the formulation of QOD GOLD. Click here to learn more...

Several products that have been very successful in the U.S market still rely on a low grade mix of raw, potent ingredients – sometimes coupled with a misleading marketing campaign. These formulas may be effective at volume reduction, but the treatment experience will be far less pleasant – and the results less optimal - than with a QOD formula that has been systematically refined through years of research and testing.

Communicating With Clients

Most of us have a greater level of awareness than ever before regarding chemical content and potential risk. QOD’s clients are no exception. You are forward-thinking, high-end stylists and salon owners who seek to understand the products you are using and do not fall for marketing hype. You tend to gravitate towards the highest quality, best performing products available, and you expect to receive complete information about them.

Many of your clients, for their part, wish to be informed about the chemical content of products used on their hair. Some may be concerned about formaldehyde, and have probably heard about “formaldahyde free” products. We suggest you explain to your clients the difference between “formaldehyde-free” and “chemical-free.” Go over the potential risks of using a true Brazilian Keratin formula, and demonstrate how you have salon safety protocols in place to protect them. They will appreciate your professionalism – and they will love their hair!

Defend Yourself!

"What a relief to know this has been resolved."Susie and Dwight Dodd, 8/30/05Are you one of the over 47 million Americans that are uninsured? Are you facing financially impossible hospital bills?Did you know that you may not have to pay what they say you owe?The Fairness Foundation provides the information and support necessary to help the uninsured negotiate for a reasonable charge. Many not-for-profit hospitals are indeed Very profitable.Informing the hospital that you have no health insurance is the beginning of a financial nightmare for the uninsured! You become a target, much like walking in with a bull’s eye on your chest, all because the uninsured are charged a higher charge than those with insurance or Medicare. Everyone gets a discount on their hospital bill, everyone EXCEPT the uninsured.
Some hospitals now offer "self-pay" discounts to everyone. We have found that the discounts barely make a dent in the overcharged, outrageous bill, in the first place. Many times hospitals refuse to provide a reduction in the uninsured’s bill. Is it fair that you are penalized because you have no one to negotiate a fair and equitable rate? We believe you should have the same consideration of those with insurance.Hospitals have been known to garnish wages, seize cars even take people's homes as payment. They will and do take people to court! Is this fair?Let us help you find your way out of the maze of unreasonable charges! We are here to help.HospitalVictims.org and its team of advocates will show you what type of discount your hospital provides to someone with insurance. We will show you the actual cost to hospitals (as opposed to how much they charge) to provide a service. Those facts will help determine whether the amount you've been charged is reasonable.Keep in mind, even if the hospital gives you a discount, they could still be overcharging. That's important because the courts have repeatedly said that hospitals are only entitled to collect a reasonable amount for their services. If you believe that what you have been charged is unreasonable rate, we'll give you suggestions on how to fight back, we provide ideas on how to protect your assets and your credit. Our suggestions identify steps to get a collection agency to quit harassing you. If it is necessary we will give additional assistance to help you accomplish that. Being uninsured doesn't mean you are without rights. We are here to help!Pulitzer Prize Winning Investigative Journalists Donald L. Bartlett and James B. Rampant Overcharging:"Almost everybody knows that a hospital stay can be hazardous to your financial health if you don't have insurance. "What isn't so well known is that hospitals charge the highest prices to those who don't have insurance. In other words, those least able to pay are charged the most. In a system riddled with inequities, this may be the most egregious... "Studies show an uninsured person who is not backed by the muscle of a pool is billed three, four, five, sometimes as much as ten times more than an insurance company whose patient has the exact same treatment."

Our investigation has uncovered:
Price gouging - many hospitals bill uninsured patients 3 to 4 times what they'd accept as payment from insurance. Examples
Hospitals are merciless with the uninsured - they take homes, savings, ruin credit, and garnish wages all to receive the outrageously high prices they charge the uninsured.
Hospitals make big profits from the uninsured - the typical bill to the uninsured represents a price that's 3 to 4 times the hospital's reported costs

HOW TO FILE A HEALTH INFORMATION PRIVACY COMPLAINT WITH THE OFFICE FOR CIVIL RIGHTS

If you believe that a person, agency or organization covered under the HIPAA Privacy Rule ("a covered entity") violated your (or someone else's ) health information privacy rights or committed another violation of the Privacy Rule, you may file a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). OCR has authority to receive and investigate complaints against covered entities related to the Privacy Rule. A covered entity is a health plan, health care clearinghouse, and any health care provider who conducts certain health care transactions electronically. For more information about the Privacy Rule, please look at our responses to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and our Privacy Guidance. (See the web link near the bottom of this form.)
Complaints to the Office for Civil Rights must: (1) Be filed in writing, either on paper or electronically; (2) name the entity that is the subject of the complaint and describe the acts or omissions believed to be in violation of the applicable requirements of the Privacy Rule; and (3) be filed within 180 days of when you knew that the act or omission complained of occurred. OCR may extend the 180-day period if you can show "good cause." Any alleged violation must have occurred on or after April 14, 2003 (on or after April 14, 2004 for small health plans), for OCR to have authority to investigate.
Anyone can file written complaints with OCR by mail, fax, or email. If you need help filing a complaint or have a question about the complaint form, please call this OCR toll free number: 1-800-368-1019. OCR has ten regional offices, and each regional office covers certain states. You should send your complaint to the appropriate OCR Regional Office, based on the region where the alleged violation took place. Use the OCR Regions list at the end of this Fact Sheet, or you can look at the regional office map to help you determine where to send your complaint. Complaints should be sent to the attention of the OCR Regional Manager of the appropriate office for your region.
You can submit your complaint in any written format. We recommend that you use the OCR Health Information Privacy Complaint Form which can be found on our web site or at an OCR Regional office. If you prefer, you may submit a written complaint in your own format. Be sure to include the following information in your written complaint:
Your name, full address, home and work telephone numbers, email address.
If you are filing a complaint on someone's behalf, also provide the name of the person on whose behalf you are filing.
Name, full address and phone of the person, agency or organization you believe violated your (or someone else's) health information privacy rights or committed another violation of the Privacy Rule.
Briefly describe what happened. How, why, and when do believe your (or someone else's) health information privacy rights were violated, or the Privacy Rule otherwise was violated?
Any other relevant information.
Please sign your name and date your letter.
The following information is optional:
Do you need special accommodations for us to communicate with you about this complaint?
If we cannot reach you directly, is there someone else we can contact to help us reach you?
Have you filed your complaint somewhere else?

The Privacy Rule, developed under authority of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), prohibits the alleged violating party from taking retaliatory action against anyone for filing a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights. You should notify OCR immediately in the event of any retaliatory action.

Use the Tab and Shift/Tab on your keyboard to move from field to field in the form. Then, you can either: (a) print the completed form and mail or fax it to the appropriate OCR Regional Office; or (b) email the form to OCR at [email protected] Option 3: If you choose not to use the OCR-provided Health Information Privacy Complaint Form (although we recommend that you do), please provide the information specified above and either: (a) send a letter or fax to the appropriate OCR Regional Office; or (b) send an email OCR at [email protected].
